Greenwood Music Camp: Faculty and Staff

The Kitchen

Greenwood's kitchen and meals are under the supervision of Glenn Meakim, our chef for over 20 years, who in his other life is a head chef at one of the Smith College dormitory complexes. He offers carefully prepared and balanced menus which include both a vegetarian and non-vegetarian entrée. He has been known to bring forth for the entire camp favorites such as Baked Alaska, linguini al pesto, and many other delights. Each summer brings its own culinary surprises, and Glenn's cuisine is one of the highlights of each student's camp memories.

Greenwood's dedicated faculty is made up of musicians from many of the country's foremost conservatories, universities and performing organizations. They return year after year. Camp counselors are for the most part former students. This continuity of life and music at Greenwood is carried forward by directors, faculty and staff from one summer to the next.

Senior Camp

Deborah Sherr: Director, Cello; Deb has been Director of the Senior Camp since 1983. She is a professional cellist and teacher, and is currently Head of the Fine Arts Department and Director of Instrumental Music at the Williston Northampton School. She is Co-Chair of the Northampton Arts Council, and on the Advisory Board of the Northampton Community Music Center, where she was formerly Director, and Board Chair.

Junior Camp

Sally Bagg: Director, cello; Sally has been the director of the Junior division of the camp since 1983. She is a cellist, and attended the camp in the 1940's. Her children are alumni of Greenwood as well. During the rest of the year she is director of the instrumental music program at the Smith College Campus School, and serves on the Boards of the Northampton Community Music Center and the ACMP Foundation.
